Dr. S. Kalyani completed her B.E. Degree in the discipline of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Alagappa Cheittar College of Engg. & Tech., Karaikudi in the year 2000. She completed her M.E. Degree in Power System Engineering at Thiagarajar College of Engg., Madurai. She has been awarded Ph.D degree from IIT Madras, Chennai in March 2011. She is a recipient of Outstanding Faculty in Engineering award by Venus International Foundation. The title of her Ph.D thesis is "A unified approach to power system security using pattern classifiers".
To her credit, she along with her project students have completed a project on Novel Method of Improving Solar Panel Efficiency using Fersnel Concentrator with a grant of Rs.7500 received from TNSCST, Tamilnadu under student project scheme - April 2014. She has about 15 years of teaching experience at various levels. She is currently working as Professor & Head in the Dept. of EEE, KCET since June 2011. She has published about 26 papers in referred International Journals and 4 in National Journals. To her credit, she has paper publications in IEEE Transactions on SMC-Part C Applications & Reviews, 4 in Elsevier Journals and One in Springer Journal. She has also presented 25 papers in reputed International conferences and 30 in national conferences, one of which is in Singapore. She has consistently obtained prizes and awards in her school and college level for her academic proficiency. She has secured 5th university rank in B.E Degree examinations and 1st rank in M.E. Degree examinations. She has also obtained Best M.E. Thesis award from TCE, Madurai.
She has published two monographs - Object Oriented Programming and Power System Analysis. She has also published a book chapter titled "Application of Pattern Recognition techniques to Power System Security" in the Lambert Publishing Company, Germany. She also acted as resource person for many workshops, FDPs and seminars and also organized two Anna University Sponsored FDP, one CSIR sponsored National Conference and ten workshops during her teaching career. She is a consistent reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and many other reputed journals in Elsevier. She has successfully completed NPTEL Online Course on MATLAB with a score of 85% and cleared BEC Vantage Exam with a score of 169. Her research areas of interest include Power System Dynamics and Stability, Machine learning techniques, Pattern Recognition, Artificial Intelligence. She is a life member of ISTE, member of IAEng(New York), member of IE (India) and also a member of IEEE.
