About Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, established in the year 2002, has been a pioneer in providing quality education and fostering cutting edge research in the field. Initially offering an undergraduate program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with an intake of 30 students, it expanded its offerings in 2012 to include a postgraduate program in Power Systems Engineering with an annual intake of 9 students. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has garnered accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE, New Delhi, ensuring the excellence of its programs across multiple cycles: 2008-12, 2013-15, 2017-20, and 2023-2026. With a team of 7 highly qualified and experienced faculty members specializing in various domains such as Renewable Energy, Power Systems, Control & Instrumentation, the department is committed to delivering excellence in teaching and research. Recognized as a Center for Research by Anna University, Chennai, it actively promotes research in areas including Solar PV, Smart Grid, and Renewable Energy. With two recognized research supervisors guiding 14 research scholars currently and having already supported 18 scholars in completing their Ph.D., it has made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in electrical engineering. The department boasts state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern infrastructure and high-end equipment, facilitating hands-on learning and practical exposure for students. The Department has secured a Projects Grant of Rs. 90 lakhs from esteemed agencies including SERB, DST, IEI, AICTE, MSME, and TNSCST, it encourages innovation and collaboration in research and development. Emphasizing industry-academia interaction, the department facilitates internships, industrial projects, and placement opportunities for students, ensuring their readiness for the professional world. To foster young entrepreneurship among students, the department has secured government funding through MSME, amounting to Rs. 29 lakhs. Additionally, it organizes various events including guest lectures, workshops, and technical contests to enhance students' skills and showcase their talents. Moreover, the department offers value-added programs in emerging technologies such as AI, ML, ETAP, and PLC Automation, in collaboration with industry partners, augmenting students' employability and keeping them abreast of the latest trends in the field. Overall, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering stands as a beacon of excellence, nurturing future leaders and significantly contributing to the advancement of electrical engineering knowledge and practice.
