Start-up Policy
Preface
EDC was started in 2015 to encourage entrepreneurship spirit among students through Entrepreneurship Awareness workshops, guest lectures and interactions with entrepreneurs. Prototype and Product Development centre was established in 2016, as a part of developing new product and creating entrepreneurial spirit among students. Based on the guidelines of the Tamil Nadu Startup Policy 2022-2023, MHRD National Innovation and Startup Policy 2019 and Anna University start up policy for faculty and students, EDC was recharged. From 2022 onwards, KCET have been selected as the nodal Hub for TN STARTUP-Aruppukottai. The following action points are envisaged to promote the culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and startups inside the campus.
Introduction
Entrepreneurship is widely recognized as a key factor in a nation's economic growth. The purpose behind the establishment of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), was to develop professional expertise in the area of entrepreneurship development. EDC develops and strengthens entrepreneurial spirit in budding professionals interested in starting their own companies.
Objectives of the EDC cell
- To create spirit on entrepreneurship among the students
- To conduct training programs in the field of entrepreneurial skill development
- To motivate and inspire students to take initiative and embrace responsibilities to flourish in the challenging environment and to become job creators.
- To provide guidance and facilities to budding professionals.
- To enhance the innovative thinking in order to develop new products.
- To get the innovative product and encourage to file patent.
- Encourage to set Campus company / start- up company within the campus.
- To develop the incubation center in college premises.
Vision
To create a passion and spirit of entrepreneurship among young budding professional entrepreneurs with new ideas.
Mission
To encourage students to develop entrepreneurial skills and to establish startups in the campus with a view to obtain a better understanding of business principles to compete the current strategy. Facilitating a platform for development of ideation into commercialization.
